It is that time again...Kick off your 4th of July Weekend with
Us! On Friday, July 3rd the City of Jonesboro will host another free concert
featuring a "Motown Hitsville Review" and a great Firework Display.
This concert will feature local phenomenon, the Vineyard Band and the sizzling
voices of Felicia Franklin-Warner and Friends presenting a seven piece band
and a night of "Motown Memories."
Please make plans to attend and bring a friend. There will be food
and beverage vendors on site. You may bring your own cooler, lawn chair
& blanket or whatever else needed to help you relax.
This is going to be a highly attended event so you are encouraged to arrive
early. To help ease with parking, we are opening up our parking lot in front of
the Firehouse Museum located at 103 West Mill Street and will shuttle
event-goers to the lawn. We will kickoff with music at 6:00 p.m. The Vineyard
Band will begin performing at 7:00 p.m. The Firework Display will begin at 9:00
p.m.
This free concert is brought to you in part by the City of Jonesboro, Clayton

3rd Annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest
The City of Jonesboro is sponsoring our 3rd Annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest. The contest is open to all, businesses, families, clubs and organizations doing business in and around Clayton County. Contestants are encouraged to assist setting up their displays in downtown Jonesboro, to decorate downtown for the approaching Fall Season. Scarecrows can be placed outside in front of a business or displayed in a business window but must be visible from the sidewalk. Clubs or organizations wishing to sponsor a Scarecrow display will be provided a downtown location.

The City of Jonesboro kicks off the 2018 Summer Concert Series on Mother's Day Weekend with live Jazz!!!! Join us on May 12, 2018 as we take a trip down memory lane for our Jazz Concert. This event is guaranteed to make you get out of the house and enjoy some great weather on the lawn of our fabulous amphitheater. For this event we will feature the smooth sounds of Baatin Muhammad & Jason Batin.
The concert will be held at the Lee Street Park Amphitheatre. At our last concert, we averaged well over 5,000 attendees, so early arrival is strongly suggested. Vendor opportunities and VIP tables are available. For additional information, please contact events@jonesboroga.com.

Join us for our Screen on the Green free movie night, June 15, 2018 7:00PM-10:00PM. For this event, we will show the film, Spider Man Homecoming. The film will start promptly at 8:00 p.m.
Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine -- distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

We are closing out our Summer Concert Series with a bang!!!! Join us on August 4, 2018 as we take you down memory lane with our Old School R&B Concert. For this event we will feature Brick. BRICK, the tremendously talented platinum recording band hails from Atlanta, Georgia.
BRICK recorded “Music Matic” for Main Street Records in 1976 before signing to CBS-distributed record label Bang Records. Their first Bang single “Dazz” was #1 on the R&B charts and was #3 on the pop charts in 1976. BRICK scored two more huge hits in 1977 “Dusic” and “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody” each with a chunky, propulsive and catchy beat with a pop-jazz refrained sound. Brick’s last top ten R&B hit was “Sweat (Til You Get Wet)” released in 1981.

About the Artists:
“Albert White is no stranger to rhythm and blues.” – Albert White began playing guitar in the late ‘50s with his legendary uncle, Piano Red, and his group “Dr. Feelgood & the Interns. Since then, Albert has performed with Joe Tex, The Tams, Ray Charles and many such artists during his 50 year tenure as a Blues and R&B musician. Albert still devotes himself to music, performing with his old band member Beverly “Guitar” Watkins and recording Music Maker CDs, including his solo album, The Soul of the Blues.
Willie Hill Man On A Mission - With performances alongside of B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Aretha Franklin and Al Green (plus many more legendary artists) there is no argument that Willie Hill with his deep soulful voice and style electrifies audiences everywhere he has been established as one of the very best blues performers in the south, he is truly a sight to behold.

The City of Jonesboro will conduct a Special Called Meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. The agenda and materials for the meeting will be made available on our Online Meeting Portal.
Please note that, due to ongoing efforts to encourage “social distancing” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting will be conducted using Zoom Meetings. This platform will allow for the public and media to attend the meeting just as they could any City Council Meeting but do so from a computer or a telephone. This is an event you do not want to miss. And to top it all off, we will honor all of our First Responders in Clayton County. This concert is in partnership with Clayton County. Unfortunately, we will not have a fireworks show this year; however, this concert is slated to definetly keep you off of your feet. For the tribute we are featuring Shining Star Band. The concert will be held at the Lee Street Park Amphitheatre. At our last concert, we averaged well over 5,000 attendees, so early arrival is strongly suggested. The City of Jonesboro Mayor & City Council is holding its initial public hearing regarding the 2021 Comprehensive Plan on July 12, 2021. The Public Hearing will be held during the Regular Meeting of the Jonesboro City Council beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Hearing will be held in the Chambers of the Jonesboro Police Department.
The purpose of this hearing is to brief the community on the process to be used to develop the plan, opportunities for public participation in development of the plan, and to obtain input on the proposed planning process. Working in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the City, over the rest of 2021 will be updating its Comprehensive Plan with the selection of a new stakeholder committee, the holding of open houses for community input, and diligently incorporating all of the many quality of life features (LCI study, creation of Overlay Districts, etc.) into the new Comprehensive Plan and the Future Land Use Map. The City has changed dramatically in the past 5 years since the last Comprehensive Plan was updated, and the new plan needs to reflect the new dynamic and future goals of Jonesboro. Your input is valuable to us.
